As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The text is 1.5 line-spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Romans or Calibri font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

Haematology Journal of Bangladesh accepts the manuscript based on the recommendations by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and accepted by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

Relevance: Bio-medical topics with scientific merits related to haematology are considered for publication in this journal.

Category of topics: The materials to submit may be an original research, review article, special article, a case report, recent advances, new techniques, books review on clinical / medical education, adverse drug reaction or a letter to the editor.

Author’s criteria: An author should have the following criteria-
1) Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
2) Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
3) Final approval of the version to be published; AND
4) Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
5) An author can write a review article only if he / she has written a minimum of two original research articles and four case reports on the same topic.

It is the collective responsibility of the authors, not this journal editors, to determine that all people named as authors meet all the criteria.

Authors’ profile: All of the authors should provide their full name, highest academic degree, designation and institutional affiliation at the time of the scientific work, and email addresses. The corresponding author should provide his/her cell phone numbers.

Ghost author: Irrelevant person or without any contribution should not be entitled as co-authors. We request not to include any ghost author(s). Therefore, relevancy and contribution of co-authors should be clearly mentioned. Please, click here and download a form for example to make sure that all the authors are conciously involved in the article, then print it out with necessary modification, fill it up clarifying the authors’ field of contribution, then scan it and upload as additional file along with the article or send to the editor by email.

Composing style: The manuscript should be written in English (UK) with portrait orientation. The font should be Times New Roman with Font size 12 with 1.5 lines spaced. Microsoft word of the latest version is strongly recommended.

Organisation of the manuscript: The manuscript should be presented sequentially as title, abstract, key words, text/main body, acknowledgments (if any), references, and appendices (if relevant). Numerical result should be presented in the form of either tables or figures.
The components of the manuscript should contain the following-
(1) Title: The title of the article should be concise, informative & self-explanatory. If you are submitting your article by direct email to one of the editors, your should insert an extra title page before the title. It should contain the following information:
Full title of the article;
Full names of all authors with the affiliating institute, reflecting the order of authorship by using superscripted numbers;
Full name, address, e-mail address and phone numbers and e-mail address of the corresponding author. 
(2) Abstract: The Abstract should be structured as- introduction with objectives, materials & methods, result, discussion and conclusion. It should be preferably within 250 words and should follow immediately after the title in the first page. It should not contain abbreviations and references. 
(3) Keywords: Appropriate key words (not exceeding seven) should be presented after the abstract. Please keep the keywords short (a maximum of 3-4 words each) and as specific as possible consistent with the title.
(4) Text/main body: It should contain introduction, material & methods, result, discussion and conclusion. A summary is not required.
Introduction: This should include the purpose and rational of the article / study in summary. Only strictly pertinent reference should be cited. The subject should not be extensively reviewed. Data or conclusion from the work should not be presented in introduction.
Materials & methods: Study design & sampling method should be mentioned. Consent from respondents / patients should be taken in the form before interview / study and should be mentioned. All drugs & chemicals used should be identified precisely, including generic name, dose route of administration.
Results: This should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, tables & illustration. Standard procedure to be maintained for statistical analysis.
Discussion: Authors comment on the result supported with contemporary references including arguments and analysis of identical work done by other workers may be elaborately discussed.
Conclusion: This should include achievement and limitation of the study/article and the recommendation made by the author(s).

Tables: Tables should be submitted as editable text and not as images and be placed next to the relevant text in the article. The table size should conform to the page size and the vertical lines should be avoided. The titles of tables should be clearly written at the top of the table with their number in consecutively using roman style (I, II, III ….) as a prefix of the title in accordance with their appearance in the text. Place any table notes below the table body as footnotes. All abbreviations must be defined in footnotes. The table size should conform to the page size. Please avoid using vertical rules and shading in table cells.

Illustrations and photographs: Authors are encouraged to provide good quality illustration with a short title and / or a proper caption bellow the image. The illustrations (with appropriate scales) including diagrams and graphs in the text should be given as ‘Figure’ and numbered as 1, 2, 3, … etc. as the prefix of the title. The title sentence should be in boldfaced font. The source should be clearly mentioned, if any. A more detailed explanation of the data contained in the figure should follow in standard (non-boldfaced) font.

Units of measurement: All measurements/values should be expressed in SI unit.

Abbreviation: Standard abbreviation may be used. The full phrase for which the abbreviation stands for should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurements. Use of abbreviation in the title and abstract should be avoided.

Appendices: Add supplemental information, if any. For submission they should be supplied as separate files but referred to in the text.

References and citations: Reference should be in Vancouver style. Items in the reference list should be referred to in the text, arranged in numerical order, by inserting superscript number just right to the sentence after the full stop (.). Citations in the text should include author(s) and year of publication. In case of more than two authors to be inserted in the text, the first author should be cited and to be followed by ‘et al.’ The names of all authors, however, would appear in the reference list. In the case of citing more than one paper of the same author(s) in the same year, the papers should be distinguished by suffixing of a small letter, e. g. Amin (2001a), Amin (2001b).

Manual submission facility is no longer available. As stated before, the authors' contribution form should be uploaded as an additional (other) document. The form can be downloaded by clicking here, which should be filled up as instructed before.

Full instructions, a user ID and password are available at the site. All author(s) need to provide their full name, institutional affiliation, and email addresses during online submission. Please note that upon successful submission of a manuscript, the corresponding author will receive an automated e-mail confirming the submission.

It is important to note that submission implies that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting or symposium. Being a membe in the Haematology Society of Bangladesh (HSB) is not a prerequisite for submission or publication in Haematol J Bangladesh and is not taken into consideration during the peer review process. In case of difficulty or special situation, it may be sent by email (journal@hematologybd.org) following appropriate instructions as mentioned above.

ORCID: This journal urges the corresponding authors to provide their ORCID iD when submitting a manuscript. However, this is not mandatory.
